Student Support & Personal Development

Giving our students a unique identity

As a small specialist institution we take pride in getting to know our students and supporting them in their studies. We recognise and celebrate the diversity of the student community and know, from experience, that students may need additional support as they have specific learning, health or social support at this vital part of their education. We ask that students who may have ongoing conditions and/or needs share this information with relevant staff in order that we can signpost the best support available and make necessary adjustments to support students’ well-being, safety and progress.

Examples of where this has helped include where a student has an underlying physical medical condition (diabetes, epilepsy) a specific learning difficulty (dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD etc.) or underlying mental illness that may affect studies (depression, anxiety etc.). All information provided to the Welfare Officer is treated in the utmost confidence and he/she will seek permission for any disclosure.

Students are also allocated a personal tutor, who will, as asked, act on behalf of a student experiencing, for whatever reasons, difficulties with their studies.

The Director of Studies is available at short notice most of the time during teaching weeks and usually provides guidance and support within 24 hours of a request to see him.

In order to ensure you stand out from the crowd and to give you the best possible chance of securing successful employment in an ever-competitive industry, our courses combine a cross-disciplined approach coupled with a tailored learning experience, resulting in you graduating with a broader knowledge and skill base than other schools.
